Summer Shipp vigil on Sunday
By The Examiner staff
Summer Shipp has been missing for five months, still without a trace.
One of the only clues to her disappearance is the abandoned vehicle that police found shortly after she vanished Dec. 8.
The Kansas City woman, 54, was doing door-to-door market research when she disappeared from the area Forest Avenue and West College Terrace in Independence.
Shipp's family has planned a vigil, 6 p.m. Sunday, to keep Summer in the community's thoughts and prayers, and to show solidarity with the neighborhood.
Family and friends have braced for the worst but are still hoping for the best in the case.
Summer's daughter, Brandy Shipp, will speak at the vigil, as will Independence Police Chief Fred Mills.
The investigation continues.
