Summer Shipp to be buried

They prayed for her safe return. They cried when the horrible news came that she had been murdered.

Today, family and friends will finally lay Summer Shipp to rest, more than three years after she disappeared.

A small gathering will travel to Livingston Cemetery near Iberia, Mo., for Shipp’s burial.

Her daughter, Brandy Shipp, said Friday that the family had received her mother’s remains from the Jackson County medical examiner’s office, allowing for the ceremony.

In October, an overflow crowd filled a Kansas City theater to share memories of Shipp after fishermen found her remains along the Little Blue River. Police have made no arrests in her death.
